About Our Speakers
Libby Gleeson AM
Libby Gleeson AM publishes picture books and longer fiction for young people. Her work has been shortlisted for or has won almost every major literary award in this country and she has been widely published overseas.  Her latest picture book, Clare’s Goodbye was illustrated by Anna Pignataro. In 2012 she published a novel Red which won the Prime Minister’s award. In 2018  she published a novel 1918 about the final year of World War 1.
 
Libby chairs WestWords, the Western Sydney Children and Youth Literature Project.

She is an adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Sydney. In 2007 she received a Member of the Order of Australia Award for services to literature and literacy education.
 
Brian Caswell
With more than 40 years of success in education and literacy, Brian is an expert in learning, literacy and creativity programmes around the world. He has written over 200 reading books for children age 3 to 7 and his best-selling novel ‘Only the Heart’ has been studied as an English Literature Text throughout Australia.

As Dean of Research and Programme Development for MindChamps, Brian is the author of the world-renowned MindChamps Reading and Writing enrichment program.

 
Trevor H. Cairney OAM
Trevor is an adjunct professor of education at the University of New South Wales Australia and President of the NSW Business Chamber. As an author, he has written widely on early learning, training, language acquisition and development. His work includes nine books and over 200 reports, articles and book chapters collected by libraries.

Trevor was awarded an Order of Australia Medal in 2012.
