A Roaring CNY Celebration at MindChamps PreSchool @ Concorde Hotel (Orchard)

February 15, 2018

A lion dance performance, auspicious greetings for the New Year and lots of festive cheer and goodies.

These were some of the highlights of the CNY celebration which was organised for our Champs and their families at our Concorde Hotel (Orchard) preschool centre.

Apart from enjoying the festivities, our Champs also got to learn various aspects of the festival through this event – from joining in the lion dance performance to writing auspicious messages and tossing as high as they can go with the ‘Lo Hei’ platter.

When Champs met the lion dancers

The CNY celebration roared with a loud bang as the lion dance troupe from the Singapore Chin Woo (Athletic) Association made their grand entrance.

This started off with the Chinese Traditional Drumming and Cai Qing performed by a group of youths aged between 8 – 11 years old, followed by the Official Cai Qing presented by the veteran lions.

Thereafter, the Lion Dance troupe danced around the school premises to bring prosperity and blessings for the New Year.

The performance started with the Chinese traditional drumming and Cai Qing performed by a group of youths aged between 8 – 11 years old.

This turned into a hands-on learning experience for our Champs as they had the opportunity to explore and play on the drums and cymbals, as well as have their turn at holding the lion heads above them with facilitation and assistance from the troupe members.

Our Champs got the chance to explore and play the drums with guidance from the lion dance troupe.

Of auspicious wishes and festive goodies

Our Champion teachers led our Champs and their families in a series of CNY-themed activities.

Each Champion family generously prepared and brought along a festive goodie bag filled with 2 mandarin oranges and a tin of CNY goodies. This was then used to exchange well wishes and greetings with other families as we welcome an awesome new year!

We wrapped up the CNY event by tossing our way to an abundance of happiness and goodness with the Lo Hei at the gourmet room. Upon leaving, each family was also presented with a CNY token from our centre directors, Mr & Mrs Raiyan.

Here’s to sharing more great moments in 2018 with all of you and your Champs!
