One of Singapore’s oldest playgrounds, this iconic dragon playground was designed in 1979 by the Housing and Development Board’s (HDB) in-house designer Khor Ean Ghee.

Mr Khor was inspired by the Oriental dragon, a symbol of the Chinese culture. It features a sand pit, a common feature in older playgrounds, instead of rubber mulch that is used in the newer playgrounds today.

The dragon is a stone structure and its body is composed of colourful metal rungs. Take the time to explore a piece of Singapore’s heritage with your child after picking him or her up from the best preschool in Toa Payoh.

Need an air-conditioned play space for your child to run wild in after picking him or her up from preschool in Toa Payoh?

Kidz Amaze is a humongous 12,700 square feet indoor playground with three play zones that are interconnected on the second level – The Cave, Tree Tops and The City.

The Cave is a massive ball pit with foam balls that get sucked up a tube into a hopper which overturns once full. The City hosts a maze of tunnels and cargo nets leading to a three-lane slide in the middle and two tube slides along the corners. Tree Tops have two towers with obstacles to surpass – all meant for your child to expend their energy and work on their motor skills.

Take a walk down nostalgia lane at this old-school-cool bakery in Whampoa. If you happen to be there at the right time, you’ll be greeted with the aroma of freshly baked bread.

Open round-the-clock, this bakery churns out traditional bread to deliver to cafes, restaurants and grocers around the island. Staying true to tradition, the bread is handmade using a labour-intensive process. The interior of the bakery is kept sparse and has an open concept.

There are bread buns with red bean paste, kaya, coconut and butter sugar fillings available for sale to walk-in customers. One fun fact – they don’t have a cash machine, preferring to use a wooden drawer for cash transactions instead.
