P1 Registration 2020: Important Dates and Things to Note

May 28, 2020

It has indeed been an eventful year so far, and once again, the primary one (P1) registration for 2020 is coming up.

As announced by the Ministry of Education, the registration of children for P1 in 2021 will be done online this year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Starting this year, the intake of permanent residents (PR) children will also be capped in 10 primary schools.

Registration for the 2021 P1 cohort will open on 1 July 2020 and close on 30 October 2020.

Here are some important dates to keep in mind and things to note for the upcoming P1 registration.

Notes on Navigating the P1 Registration 2020

With the various phases of registration available, you can choose to register your child in a chosen school at any phase that you qualify for.

If you have submitted your application online and would like to make changes during the same phase, you will need to submit a new application within the same phase. MOE will then take your latest online application submitted during the registration period of the same registration phase

Should you choose to submit a new application upon securing a P1 place for your child in a previous registration phase, you will need to withdraw your place from the school before registering in another school.

To avoid having to deal with the hassle of withdrawals or amendments which may lead to delays or missing registration phases, it is recommended to discuss well ahead and decide on your primary school of choice before submitting the online registration.
