Named in honour of Mrs Carmee Lim whose life’s work in education has impacted thousands of students in Singapore, the Mrs Carmee Lim Scholarship is the result of a meeting between Mr Zainudin Nordin, Grassroots Adviser to Bishan-Toa Payoh Grassroots Organisations and Member of Parliament for Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC, and Mr David Chiem, founder and Group CEO of MindChamps.

At the inaugural launch of the scholarship, Mrs Carmee Lim presented 15 underprivileged and deserving students from the 2014 Primary 5 cohort, with $250,000 of scholarships from MindChamps, to equip them with the Champion Mindset and effective study techniques for them to face the critical PSLE next year.

Students were nominated by the grassroots leaders in the Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC and Central Singapore District. Mr Zainudin said, “This scholarship is about changing lives and improving society. I want to thank MindChamps and Mrs Carmee Lim for this wonderful idea, to help benefit the needy families in our constituency.”

Mrs Carmee Lim is the former Principal of Raffles Girls’ School as well as Senior Inspector of Schools in the Ministry of Education. She was also the founding Executive Director of the Academy of Principals and was instrumental in setting up the Principals Academy Inc., a Joint Venture with EDB.

The scholarship also ‘extends’ to the students’ parents – Mr David Chiem, Founder and Group CEO of MindChamps said, “At MindChamps, we believe that as leaders of their ‘home nation’, parents play an important role in providing the optimum environment for their children. As part of our programmes, they will get to attend workshops on parenting and learning techniques so that they can reinforce what their children will be learning, in the home.”
