100 parents had the privilege of getting up close and personal with award-winning author, Mr Brian Caswell on 3 April 2013 at the Professor Snyder Theatre in HDB Hub. The first of a two-book series, Magic Moments: Small Beginnings is meant for parents with children aged 2 years and below. Based on the latest scientific research on neuroscience, it shows parents how to create and capture special moments with their child – how they can make them fun and memorable, and how each of these special moments can help their child to learn and grow.

Beginning with a quote from PM Lee from his 2012 National Day Rally Speech; “It is good for young children to play and to learn through play”, Mr Caswell went on to illustrate that whatever the activity, the simple fact that a parent is sharing the moment with their child will make it ‘magical’ for both of them.

Mr Caswell, who is also the Dean of Research and Program Development at MindChamps, went on to outline the development of the 3 Minds in a child; the Champion, Learning and Creative minds, He also cited examples of activities from his book; activities that involved all the child’s 5 senses.

The highlight of the workshop was when he demonstrated to the audience how to read a book with their child, by reading out Benjamina Bullfrog ate…, one of the 65 books from the MindChamps Read-Along Library, which he wrote specifically for the MindChamps Reading program. His engaging delivery inspired every parent to read out along with him!
