3 Activities To Do With Your Child During Teacher’s Day Holiday in Singapore

September 2, 2022

The Teacher’s Day holiday in Singapore is really just another fantastic opportunity for you to have your child try out some fun do-it-yourself (DIY) activities suitable for kindergarteners. And it’ll be the perfect time for you to bond with them too! Our three favourites are:

1. Personalised Water Bottle Sleeve

When we talk about celebrating uniqueness, the first thought that comes to mind is the ability to create personalised items. And what better way to do that than starting off with a water bottle sleeve.

We will make this simple. Snap up a bottle that has a compartment in which we can drop paper art. Next, bring out all the art papers, crayons and markers, and have your child doodle away! Ask them to create a masterpiece that defines them – whether that is drawing their pet, writing their name out in a creative way or creating abstract art.

When your child brings the bottle back to school after the Teacher’s Day holiday, it’s an opportunity for them to describe to peers the experience, with an impromptu show-and-tell.

2. Delicious Baked Treats

Good food doesn’t only fill the stomach — it fills the heart too. When we say food, we are talking about sweet baked treats — cupcakes, brownies, macaroons…yummy!

With many bakeries around Singapore, you won’t take much time preparing a tray of delicious goodies for tea time at home.

But if you are a home baker yourself, why not get your little one to put on their chef hat too?

Baking with your child lets them explore new skills through crafted play. From throwing in and mixing ingredients to identifying their unique aromas, there are various opportunities for hands-on experiences. They will acquire lifelong learning behaviours too, such as preventing a mess by avoiding spillages or knowing when the oven is hot.

Now, imagine what happens after your partner or your best friend learns how well your Champ did in the kitchen? Be sure to snap a picture of that million-dollar smile when they look at these homemade baked treats.

Guiding your little one on a new adventure at home makes them more inquisitive and receptive to learning back at school. So, don’t forget to give yourself a pat on the back for being an amazing Champion Parent too.

3. Gardening

Get your child to embrace nature for this one. It’s time for gardening! From filling up a pot with soil, sowing the seed and putting just enough fertiliser, to setting a routine to water and check for insects, caring for a plant is an experience they’ll remember.

Fulfilling a duty towards a living thing like a plant lets your child learn about responsibilities and care too, which makes this not just a fun kindergarten activity but also an educational one. Think about how your child will feel when they spot a flower blooming!

It’s time for your little one to go all out as a Champ this Teacher’s Day holiday — get crafty, create a little mess and stimulate your child’s mind. And if you’re out of ideas of school holiday activities, why not book a visit to our MindChamps PreSchool centres in Singapore to learn what we do at our preschool.
