Memorial plaques erected here tell the story of the Sook Ching Massacre that occurred during the Japanese Occupation. However, there is nothing overtly scary about it and Punggol Beach could actually serve as a good history lesson for the older kids.

The beach itself is also very picturesque and good for a stroll or a picnic on its soft sand.
