MindChamps PreSchoolers Show Compassion by Adopting Endangered Tree Kangaroos

December 15, 2017

Preschoolers of MindChamps PreSchool raised S$30,000 to adopt two rare and endangered Goodfellow’s tree kangaroos – Makaia and Nupela.

Both endangered tree kangaroos hailed from Australia.

Makaia is a rambunctious three-year-old male who made global headlines in November 2014 when he was adopted by a surrogate yellow-footed wallaby at 47 days old, after his mother’s sudden demise.

Nupela is a local celebrity in her own right, being the first Goodfellow’s tree kangaroo to be born in Australia’s Taronga Zoo in Sydney, in over 20 years.

Teaching Children About Compassion

According to Mr. David Chiem, Founder CEO & Executive Chairman of MindChamps PreSchool, this act of kindness is a direct result of the “I am Compassionate” value nurtured in all MindChamps Preschool Champs. He shared,

This adoption by our preschoolers reflects the values that we believe in, that we nurture in all our students, to have compassion for others, and to see the beauty in others, including all animals.
